Materials you will need to have on hand at the beginning of class:
Acrylic Paint
- Black
- White
- Yellow
- Orange
- Red
- Blue
- Light blue
Brushes
- Flat Brush #6 (or smaller)
- Small round brush #8 (or smaller)
PALETTE (options)
- Piece of parchment paper taped down onto the table
- Paper plate
- Store bought palette
Canvas (options)
- Canvas (8×10” – 11×14”)
- Watercolor / Multi purpose paper (usually comes in a pad)

Guided Preliminary Sketch
Please have this image sketched out (lightly) onto your canvas or paper BEFORE class starts.
This will make it easier as we are all starting from the same point. You will learn to build depth of color and shapes with paint on top of this loose sketch. Please DO NOT sketch out grid lines.
Tips to drawing with a grid
You can also print this drawing guide out, and color the back of the paper entirely with charcoal or pastel, and then lay this paper on top of your canvas to trace with a pencil.
